Tori's Money Story

"From the time I entered by graduate program in business, I knew the world of finance was in my blood. After graduating with my MBA, I found my first home at the very competitive and engaging Chicago Board of Trade. I was one of only a few women on the floor as a trader for J.P. Morgan. I spent four years on the floor and eventually decided I was ready to return to the Florida climate and the next chapter in my career in finance. Raymond James happened to be the biggest financial services organization in Florida in the early nineties. Once again, I found myself in a position with just one other woman, so the need to prove myself and be good at my work was critical. As Raymond James financial advisors moved from commission-based to fee-based products, I spent a great deal of time traveling the country to provide advisors with education about different mutual funds and money managers. It did not take long for me to realize that while I loved helping other financial advisors, my dream would be to work directly with clients.

During this time, I was also going through some personal challenges that left me with a great appreciation for the role of an advisor when times get tough. I set out to realize my dream of becoming a financial advisor through years of saving so that I could afford the time it would take me to set-up my own business and build a client base. It was not easy, there were some unfortunate starts and stops, but eventually I realized my dream. I’ve had the opportunity to work with clients as an advisor for more than seven years, and love that I can bring all of my previous experience to bear for their benefit."
